Youth Music Opportunities: Final Days to Apply for Paid Roles at the Youth Music Awards 2025

Aspiring music and media professionals from NI are encouraged to apply for three exciting freelance opportunities currently being offered by Youth Music, one of the UK’s leading charities for young creatives. These roles form part of the upcoming Youth Music Awards 2025, and the application deadline is fast approaching: Sunday 5 May at 11:59pm.
This is a valuable opportunity for those seeking paid experience and national exposure within the music and wider creative industries. Youth Music is specifically looking for early-career creatives who are passionate, motivated and eager to contribute to a large-scale event celebrating emerging talent across the UK.
The three freelance roles currently open for application are:
Backstage Presenter (x2)
Youth Music is seeking two confident and engaging backstage presenters to conduct interviews with performers, nominees, winners, sponsors and special guests on the night of the Youth Music Awards. This footage will be edited for Youth Music’s digital platforms, contributing to the visibility and legacy of the event. Successful applicants will also receive presenting training with an industry professional.
Host (x2)
Two charismatic and organised individuals will be selected to co-host the Youth Music Awards, guiding the audience through the evening’s programme, introducing performances and maintaining the event’s energy and pace. Applicants can apply individually or as a pair.
Video Editor
One skilled video editor will be recruited to help produce dynamic video content for the Youth Music Awards, contributing to the storytelling and outreach around the event. This is a key behind-the-scenes role offering paid creative experience on a national project.
All three roles are part of Youth Music’s NextGen programme, which supports emerging creatives aged 18–25 through paid industry placements and training. The Youth Music Awards 2025 will take place on Wednesday 15 October 2025 at Troxy in London. Selected applicants must be available to attend in person and take part in preparatory sessions in the months leading up to the event.
Youth Music continues to play a vital role in equalising access to the music industries, investing £10 million annually into grassroots music projects across the UK. Their work actively supports those who face barriers to participation due to inequality, discrimination or exclusion.
If you are based in NI and are at the beginning of your journey into music, media or events, this is a high-impact opportunity to gain real-world experience, grow your network, and work with one of the most respected organisations in the UK’s music sector.
