The UK Artist Touring Fund (UKAT) is set to launch in the first quarter of 2026, delivering critical financial support designed to make domestic touring more sustainable and accessible for emerging and mid-tier talent. This initiative arrives at a vital time for the industry, as rising operational costs and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis have made it increasingly difficult for independent artists to perform live without facing significant financial risk.

Developed by the Featured Artists Coalition (FAC) in partnership with the Music Managers Forum (MMF) and the Musicians’ Union (MU), the fund is a direct response to what many have called a “grassroots touring crisis.” By providing “top-up” support, UKAT aims to help artists reach new audiences and build long-term careers while revitalizing the wider live music ecosystem – including venues, promoters and crews – that rely on consistent touring activity to survive.

The LIVE Trust and the £1 Ticket Levy
The fund has been made possible through a £125,000 grant from the LIVE Trust’s Phase One strategy. This trust is an industry-led initiative that channels voluntary £1-per-ticket contributions from large-scale arena and stadium shows back into the grassroots sector. By leveraging the success of major tours from supporting artists like Ed Sheeran and Lorde, the Trust is able to redistribute wealth within the music industry to protect the talent pipeline and ensure the future of live music in local communities across the UK.

Next Steps for Artists
As this is a pilot phase, the FAC and its partners will use this initial rollout to refine funding models and ensure the process remains transparent and efficient for the future. While specific eligibility criteria and application timelines are still being finalized, the fund is expected to open for its first round of submissions within the next few weeks. Artists and managers looking to stay informed about the application window are encouraged to sign up for updates via the FAC or MMF to ensure they are ready when the fund officially opens.
