Fast-rising Belfast alt-pop powerhouse Susi Pagel has been selected for the prestigious Frequencies New Music Residency 2025, becoming one of just a handful of emerging artists across the UK to take part in the sought-after programme. Originally from Carrickfergus and now based in Belfast, Susi has steadily carved out a bold sonic identity that blends alt-pop, rock and metal influences with razor-sharp songwriting and theatrical flair.

Having first started writing music at the age of 11, Susi has become a rising figure in the local scene, graduating from the Oh Yeah Centre’s Scratch My Progress talent development scheme and releasing her debut EP in 2024. That release, and a growing number of live appearances across NI and beyond, caught the attention of Music for Youth, who run the Frequencies initiative.

Supported by PPL, the Frequencies New Music Residency is designed to elevate the next generation of UK artists aged 16–25. As part of the programme, Susi will receive industry mentoring, work alongside orchestral musicians and a choir, and take part in a special collaborative performance at the Music for Youth Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Participants also benefit from paid performance and development opportunities throughout the year, offering valuable access to career-shaping experiences.

Susi’s selection recognises both her standout creativity and her growing presence beyond Belfast. As one of the most singular new voices to emerge from the local scene in recent years, her inclusion in this year’s Frequencies line-up further marks her out as one to watch.
