Belfast
Strummerville Rehearsal Rooms
Oh Yeah Music Centre, Gordon Street
As Belfast’s dedicated music hub, the Oh Yeah Music Centre is home to the Strummerville Rehearsal Rooms, where some of Northern Ireland’s finest acts have honed their sound. Right in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter, its two well-kept rooms come fully kitted out with a drum kit, guitar and bass amps, mics and a vocal PA.
The small room suits four to six people and costs £10 an hour or £25 for three hours, while the large room fits six to eight for £12.50 an hour or £32 for three hours. Rooms are open on weekday evenings (except Wednesdays) and Saturdays, and they get busy, so book a week or two ahead. Oh Yeah also has a songwriting room with iMacs, keyboards and recording gear. Attic Studios
Blackstaff Mill, Springfield Road
Blackstaff Mill on the Springfield Road is a constant hive of musical activity, and Attic Studios is a go-to for many of Belfast’s top artists. With a great mix of independent rehearsal and recording spaces, it’s well worth a look if you’re after a reliable, creative place to work.

AMPS Recording Studio
Conway Mill, Falls Road
Based in the historic Conway Mill, AMPS offers high-quality recording, mixing and mastering for all genres alongside its rehearsal rooms. It also runs accredited OCN courses, making it a great all-round option whether you need somewhere to practise, record or build your skills.

The Mount Rehearsal Room

Just a ten-minute walk from Belfast city centre, The Mount offers a spacious rehearsal room with a full range of equipment. It’s a great shout if you need an affordable, central space, and block-booking discounts make it good value if you rehearse regularly.

Earthmusic

Run by respected producer and engineer Vic Bronzini-Fulton, Earthmusic is a relaxed, fully equipped studio just minutes from the city centre. It’s open seven days a week for block bookings and late-night sessions, and comes with free tea and coffee and a communal kitchen, so it’s an easy place to settle in for a long session.

The Music Rooms
Ballymena and Antrim
Known for top-class tuition and music retail, The Music Rooms also have warm, clean, soundproofed rehearsal rooms in Ballymena and Antrim. Each comes with a drum kit (bring your own cymbals), two guitar amps, a bass amp and a PA with two mics. Sessions cost £40 for two hours or £50 for three.

As well as being one of Northern Ireland’s top musicians and teachers, Junior Afrifa rents out his rehearsal space in Newtownards. With excellent gear and affordable rates, it’s well worth considering if you’re based in North Down or the Ards.

Rock Rehearsal Room, ISLAND Arts Centre
Lisburn
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council’s ISLAND Arts Centre has a dedicated rock rehearsal room, a 32 square metre space ideal for bands, solo practice, workshops and music classes. It’s wheelchair accessible, and there’s free parking on site.

Portadown Town Hall
Edward Street, Portadown
Portadown Town Hall has a medium-sized rehearsal room that’s well suited to choirs, acoustic acts and smaller ensembles, with rates from £9 an hour. Extras such as a PA system, an upright piano and choir staging can be added for a small fee.
