From the first demo to the debut album, a good recording studio can make all the difference. Northern Ireland has a brilliant range to choose from, whether you’re after a producer-led room in the Cathedral Quarter, an affordable space to track your first EP or a residential studio in the countryside where you can live and breathe your record for a week.
Here’s our guide to the recording studios making records in Belfast and across the North right now, from long-established names to newer spaces.
Before you book, ask to hear recent work in your genre, check whether the day rate includes an engineer, and find out how mixing, revisions and file delivery are charged. Budget for mixing and mastering as well as recording. Funders including Help Musicians, PRS Foundation, Belfast City Council and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland can help with recording costs if you apply before your sessions, so check our Live Funding for NI Artists page for what’s open right now.
