A major new mental health survey has launched for everyone working across the UK music industry – and it’s open now.

Led by Music Minds Matter in collaboration with Point One Project and Habit Partners, this is described as the most comprehensive study of its kind into mental health across the music ecosystem. Crucially, it’s not just for artists or creators. If you’re a musician, songwriter, producer, educator, manager, promoter, executive, venue staff member, production crew, agent or working in any part of the wider music infrastructure – employed, self-employed or freelance – your experience matters here.

The anonymous online survey takes around 10-15 minutes to complete and aims to build a clear, statistically robust picture of mental health across the entire sector. The findings will help shape better support systems, inform future policy and drive meaningful, long-term change in how the industry looks after its people.

As many of you know, working in music can be deeply rewarding, but it can also come with pressure and precarity – particularly for freelancers and those in the live sector. This research is about understanding those realities properly, so the right structures and safeguards can be put in place.

If you work in music in any capacity, please consider taking a few minutes to complete the survey and share it with colleagues across your networks. The stronger and more representative the response, the more impact it can have for everyone.
