Future Sounds: A New Summer School for Young NI Musicians

The Future Sounds of Belfast Summer School is launching for the first time this year at the Oh Yeah Music Centre, offering an exciting opportunity for young musicians aged 12–18 to explore their creativity, develop new skills and connect with others in a vibrant, supportive environment.
Running from 28 July to 8 August 2025, the programme is aimed at young people who can confidently play a piece of music and are ready to take the next step in their musical journey. Whether your passion lies in pop, rock, R&B, classical, jazz, trad, rap or electronic music, this multi-genre summer school is designed to bring together different styles and voices to create something new.
Participants will collaborate in a large 25-strong ensemble and in smaller band groups, working closely with a team of established Belfast-based musicians, producers and songwriters. Along the way, you’ll gain valuable insight into the music industry, learn about working in a professional recording studio, and co-write original music in both large and small settings.
The two-week programme will culminate in a live performance, giving you the chance to showcase your new material and experience the buzz of performing in front of an audience.
This is a rare chance to deepen your confidence, creativity and collaboration skills in a real-world music environment. Whether you’re hoping to pursue music more seriously or simply want to meet other young people with a shared passion, Future Sounds is an ideal place to start.
