Arts & Business NI: An Introduction to Business Planning

9:30am – 2:30pm, Thursday 19th Jun 2025

If you’re part of NI’s independent music scene – running a label, programming gigs, managing an arts space or steering a grassroots collective – there’s a practical opportunity this June that could sharpen your focus and strengthen your future plans.

On Thursday 19 June, Arts & Business NI are hosting An Introduction to Business Planning at the University of Atypical, Belfast. Running from 9.30am to 2.20pm, it’s a half-day workshop tailored for those working in the arts, heritage and non-profit sectors, including the often under-supported corners of NI’s music ecosystem.

Led by Josh Watts of Innovate_, the session is designed to demystify business planning, helping organisations of all sizes think clearly about why they exist, who they serve and how they can do what they do even better. Expect practical advice, real-world tools and space to ask the big questions.

For musicians, promoters, venue operators and music collectives navigating uncertain funding or DIY paths, this is a rare moment to step back, sketch a smarter roadmap and connect with others doing similar work. Lunch and refreshments are included, and tickets are just £5+VAT for A&B NI members or £10+VAT for non-members.

Book your place here and start planning for sustainability with clarity, confidence and community in mind.
