Marty Tohill

Marty Tohill is a singer-songwriter /producer/musician from Holywood, Northern Ireland. This year has seen him release his self produced debut EP “What you wanted” along with the Folk Electronica single “On our way” featuring Judith Mulgrew. Both received great reviews and international radio play and ended on up several popular Spotify playlists.

A prolific songwriter whose style looks back to a time when every word had meaning, and melody and harmony were compulsory. Last year’s lockdown afforded him the time to review, revisit and rewrite a lot of partly finished ideas that have been gathering dust over the past years.

Tohill is a sonic explorer never afraid to mix up styles and instrumentation. From intimate acoustic vulnerability to Disney pop/rock, to harmonic orchestral density and everything in between. Always striving for that combination of melody and harmony balanced with lyrics sprinkled with anger, anti establishment and wit.

Through his self reflective songs he explores all places between joy and sadness. Going deep into human emotions. Conflicts, anxiety, integrity, loss, hope and life’s purpose are all to be explored.

His songs have been described as McCartneyesque, with shades of Deacon Blue, Pink Floyd, The Eels, Delamitri, Fastball.

A very fine, excellent EP really good stuff..Ralph McLean

Your voice, your melody and energy… so hypnotizing!

If you like your songs tender, heartfelt and filled with melody.. look no further. This is a great debut which I find stunningly beautiful I will go back to again and again.
